Based on the principle of motor-driven extraction, the design goal was to create a coffee maker of minimalist appearance. Thus, manual user elements such as handles and buttons have vanished. Instead, coffee is made by operating the Nespresso U’s “slider” in one finger movement, without having to push any buttons. Following a modular approach, the water tank is held in place by magnets and can move and swivel around. Peripheral elements are also flexibly fixed by magnets. The machine is available in two versions and four colours.
