The COCOON is an environmentally friendly casket. It is manufactured by hand using fast-growing renewable primary resources (untreated jute and a natural resin) that bio-degrade within 10-15 years. It features a new, timeless shape and an overall look free of the associations of the typical rectilinear casket. The oval shape and high-gloss surface do not project any standard funerary language. The casket is also lighter than most traditional designs, rendering it easier to carry and lower into the ground. Although entry into this market is tough, this new start-up company received much media attention, and sales are on track with projections.
