LUPA is a rug for the individualized living area. The objective behind this product development was to achieve novel haptic and optic qualities. To this end, two levels were created in the rug: the background features a short, highly dense lower level, while thick, long yarn forms the upper surface. This yarn tilts in different directions as a result of the way it has been tufted as well as its height, and is reminiscent of sea anemones. The background is visible through the upper pile. Both levels are matched tone in tone and differ substantially in terms of yarn density and thickness. A machine was developed for the first time for "hand-tufting" such thick yarns. LUPA is a single rug to the highest hand-made quality using exclusively pure new wool from New Zealand. An innovative carpet structure that creates an island of comfort in the modern living room.
