For the past 70 years, credit card design has changed little, and always remained horizontal in order to accommodate the magnetic strip on the back of the card. Technological advances have now changed the way we use credit cards. Credit card payments can now also be made using a cellphone or IC chip, and contactless NFC payments are taking over from card swiping. One common element of all of these new technologies is that they are used vertically, though but our human habit has stayed horizontal despite the change. This vertical credit addresses this habit and directs it to suit the new digital environment.
