Since 2011, when the first generation of the THR was released, the lifestyles of its users have changed, as have the values they demand. It became clear that users wanted the THR to fit in naturally with a broader range of living spaces and scenarios, such as with their living room, bedroom, or on a bookshelf, in addition to the desktop use that was originally envisaged, and Yamaha had to upgrade both the features and the design to match this transformation.
