Mahjong Tea combines two Chinese traditions in its design concept: loose tea is pressed into pre-measured mahjong tiles that are stored in characteristic wooden tea boxes. The stackable boxes are decorated with crafted elements and brass inlays; a band with illustrations protects their untreated surface. Organic materials emphasise the product’s character. Together, product and packaging form an aesthetic design object.
