Capricorn railcars are separable multiple-unit trains with automatic couplers, designed to increase the productivity of the Rhaetian Railway. Their distinctive paintwork in two shades of red is reminiscent of early Alpine railways, while the contours of the driver’s cab were inspired by the horns of the Alpine ibex. The geometry of the front car is optimised for use in snowy areas. Headlamps positioned high up and the backlit cantonal coat of arms add to the signature look of the Capricorn.
