Good design always appeals to more than just one of the senses. In designing the kitchen appliances of the Excellence Line comprising coffee machine, steamer, oven and wine cooler, the maxim of uniting opposites took centre stage. It realises the idea of making emotions meet precise technology: “Warm meets cold, soft elements meet hard.” Full of contradictions in form, these appliances nevertheless adopt an overall harmonious appearance. Balance determines the design language; contrasts stimulate the senses and emotionalise. The decision for integrating a handleless design was guided by the aim to achieve maximum purism. These devices aim to be experienced by users both visually and haptically. When they are switched off, they recede as far as possible and fade into the background to not impose themselves. When switched on, however, they mark a charismatic presence. A central aspect is the generously designed display, which is also defined as the “soul” of these devices. It offers outstandingly convenient operation via the CircleSlider, with the product and user interface design entering into a perfect symbiosis. When switched on, the CircleSlider facilitates easy adjustment of settings. When switched off, it still features strongly and serves as an unmistakable brand icon. Complemented by many customisation options, the devices allow being set up according to individual user needs.
