Local communities in the Cameroon Rainforest are being displaced at an alarming rate in favour of logging and plantations, with the state forcing the people to leave their homes due to a lack of identification papers and rights to land. The Rainforest Foundation UK works to enable the rights of these indigenous people; providing them with tools and training to map their land to protect their communities and the rainforest’s ecosystem from future harm. The challenge was to create a one-off fundraising campaign to highlight the issues and most importantly to encourage donations within a specific timeframe, as an anonymous donor would be matching the total donation received. The stand out campaign, which told an emotive and compelling story, raised £14,000 – 78% up on objective. What’s more, the average donation amount was 23% higher than target and the campaign unlocked the Maximum Matched Giving Donation.
