The hotel is located in Hamburg’s HafenCity district on a prominent corner. The powerful structure of the façade and its sculptural design give the building a three-dimensional effect that makes a strong fit with the surroundings. The façade skilfully generates its tectonics from the stacking of the hotel rooms. The bricks are bluish-red engobe on a red base, a nod to Hamburg's iconic brick streetscape, which enlivens the façade with a vivid play of colors and highlights. Careful planning was needed to accommodate the various formats and special stones and achieve a balanced picture and clear rhythm.
