The objective was to develop a design that fits the town of Bergen and offers an attractive alternative to using a car. The concept is based on the culture and history of the people of Bergen. The particular architecture of the very wide vehicle with its short front end required a special design concept to achieve these goals. The design alludes to the elegance of Viking boats, lending the tram a versatile and agile appearance. The interior was developed to cope with the extreme Norwegian light conditions and the long and dark winter months. Discreet colours contrast with the striking orange of the poles, while the inner ceiling features slides with colourful images created by artists from Bergen.
