For the world class athletes of the Rio 2016 Paralympic games BMW developed a racing wheelchair that is particularly aerodynamic lightweight and fast. In addition to a completely revised design, the model, made of carbon fibre, features a new seat which can be optimally tailored to the body of an individual athlete by means of 3D scanning and printing techniques. The ambitious ergonomic approach was also applied to the other points of contact, such as the steering mechanism and the brakes.
