The backpack is made of a waterproof, windproof and fire-retardant fabric, characteristics that ensure both protection and durability even over longer periods of use. Converting this backpack into a 190-centimetre bed is almost self- explanatory and easily performed. The backpack is easily turned into a protective shelter by simply pulling up the two ends and pitching them – without the need for poles – via the built-in ropes, for example between two trees. The design details of the Backpack Bed were adapted for life under extreme conditions: it is well insulated, features three strong mosquito mesh vents for ventilation, a pocket to store valuables and a well-cushioned mattress promising a comfortable sleep.
