Ayang Gichatgil

1/2

Ayang Gichatgil is a design project whose aim was to preserve a railway bridge in Daegu, Korea, built in 1935 that had fallen into disuse. Once the bridge had been saved from demolition, it was converted and turned into relaxation areas and a museum in order to breathe new life into the whole bridge and its surroundings. As a pedestrian crossing, the bridge provides a better link between urban areas and also serves as a meeting point for increased interaction. The design unites structural and civil engineering, construction, materials engineering and visual techniques.
