The special feature of this intramedullary nail navigation system is its operation with electromagnetic near-field positioning technology. Whilst in conventional osteosynthesis the position of the implanted intramedullary nail is determined by several X-ray images, this system can ascertain the exact position of the nail and display the 3D position between the intramedullary nails and the sighting device on the screen, thus significantly shortening the duration of the operation.
