The purpose of the project was to identify and design new product lines with innovative features and unique materials not usually associated with knives. The Truss Clip knife has triangular cutouts in the handle and blade, designed to be comfortable and a pleasing composition. This also allows the user to deploy the blade easily with more comfort. The first production run was sold out before it hit the market. Gerber's relationship with manufacturers allowed the production cost to be greatly reduced and allowed for an extremely quick "art to part" production cycle; less than 2 months.
