Expansion Cityline is a furniture system that offers an active setting that allows people to move, gather and disperse when privacy and focus are desired. Inspired by the definitive patterns of the urban landscape, the system is based on the concept of planning for a workplace that is as diverse and dynamic as a modern city. With a unique beam framework and a robust accessories program, Expansion Cityline creates workstations, collaborative spaces and mixed-use areas in which people can feel comfortable and empowered as they pursue individual and collective goals. With the idea of mixing the benefits of both panel and benching configurations in mind, the designers undertook the design for a new desk-based system. Even before the first line was drawn or any visual concepts sketched, key design statements were identified. The result: a guideline that included planning flexibility with 90-degree configurations as a panel system.
