All invasive therapy involves undesired side effects, one being the drop in patient body temperature during longer operations; temperature can fall 3° C, leading to hypothermia and heart problems. A pre-warmed bed helps alleviate this conditions. The mattress is pre-warmed by short-wave IR radiation: contact-free and hygienic, no air currents are produced or bacteria transported, no special blankets required that than have to be disinfected.
