UM1 – Designed by Mother Nature. Applying new lighting technologies in a conventional recessed luminary, with unsurpassed LOR and ease of installation in mind, was the central element in designing the UM1. MesoOptics is an innovative material that allows diffuse light to be directed very accurately using very fine (5 ?m), three-dimensional micro-structures that are created using holographic techniques. Designing the luminary’s surface, Mother Nature served as model: in the centre a brighter halo is formed around the light sources, while the brightness is slightly fading towards the light fixture’s edges. Spreading the light evenly over the film, the contours of optical components disappear, avoiding sharp contrasts. Thus, the luminary is forming a natural tie between the artificial lighting required and the natural light desired.
