ASUS SDRW0804P-D is a slim external DVD burner (8x). Corresponding to its primary function of "duplication" the design takes its cue from a plastic injection mould tool. The mould-like design and details include engraved text and bar code, clearly highlighting its function. The aluminum case reinforces the image of a mould and keeps it lightweight and durable; suitable both for notebook and desktop users. The case deliberately features two contrasting treatments, emphasizing the diamond-cut disc-shaped hollow where users can put their original DVD while recording. The eject button and four screw covers also have a similar diamond-cut treatment for keeping the style in tone and reinforcing the overall aesthetic: simplicity and clear elegance.
