Twist is an occasional table series constructed out of four laminated plywood parts. The top surface falls away in each corner to form legs, which then wrap under themselves to complete two loops. Working with laminated timber is a huge challenge as the material has fixed mechanical attributes and a long design heritage. The design came out of a geometric exploration of the material, which sought ways of finding a form that can be manufactured simply and yet creates an object that is surprising. The complexity and beauty of the design, is in using one very simple mould four times and cutting and jointing these to achieve the finished product.
