We wanted to create a truly practical scale for people who love to cook, bake and make preserves in their home. Maya provides some of the essential tools required in the kitchen. It is primarily a weighing scale, but it also includes a transparent tray which can be inverted for measuring out ingredients and a large bowl for mixing. The bowl has an integrated rubber base for stability when mixing becomes more physical. The design is functional but reminiscent of traditional baking equipment, pudding bowls, cake tins etc. We wanted the design to look purposeful and to remind us of some basic pleasures, food, comfort and family.
