The Internet platform Zeit statt Zeug (time rather than stuff) wants to make people give their friends time spent together, rather than buying them things they don't need. In 2013 the Zeit statt Zeug movement makes a step beyond the Web – out into the real world, where physical shopping actually happens. The Real retail chain has agreed to place gift voucher cards for values of 60, 90 or 120 minutes in selected stores. Customers can take them home and give them to friends completely free-of-charge. With maybe the first free supermarket item ever, customers start to realize that good gifts may not have a price, but still have a value.
