This electric power assist unit is after-fitted to manual wheelchairs. Its concept was to not have users adapt to the wheelchair, but to make it more attuned to them, so it brings more enjoyment to mobility and helps them be more independent. Simply fitting the JWX-2 onto a manual wheelchair converts it into a power-assisted one. It’s used in the same way as a manual wheelchair, to help users maintain their residual functional capacity while getting around more freely. Starting off, going uphill or over high-resistance surfaces becomes easier. Also, adjustments for arm strength, etc., are possible with the “JW Smart Tune” software.
