People in Asia sometimes see blessings in material things, such as gift and money. Their culture teaches them that bringing over small items as gift along with them to the place where they are visiting is a symbol of good manner or reciprocation, too. This tradition in Taiwan is called “Li Xhan Wong Lai,” or “mutual” in English, which has passed down on many generations since its derivation back at ancient time. People who are against this tradition are considered “man with no respect” and be harshly criticized behind their back. The impact of which could result in dead end in his social life and even jeopardize his reputation.
