Recife, a Brazilian city, has one of the biggest and most democratic carnival celebrations of the country. In 2016, this scenography project was developed to decorate the city, highlighting its traditions and cultural roots. As the City Hall chose to honor the Maracatu (the cultural tradition of Afro-Brazilian dance and music), the design concept was inspired by African culture. The illustrations, digitally created, were turned into huge 5-8 m high sculptures and spread around the historical center of Recife. Under the same concept, the project also included stage scenography, signaling, decoration of the airport and others.
