As part of a partnership between Philips Healthcare and Västerbotten Local Council in Sweden, Philips was asked to rethink the patient experience for patients in a psychosis ward of a psychiatric clinic. Based on extensive experience research, a new care and experience concept for the ward was designed and implemented. The new design features a spatially open ward that allows more interaction between staff and patients, supports for patients' day/night rhythms using circadian lighting, and opportunities for patients to partake in various activities, enjoy social interaction or find seclusion, depending on their need.
