T · CAFE is a light refreshment space in Hong Kong that cultivates awareness for environmental sustainability and historical preservation. The designers used fender wood salvaged from the demolished Wan Chai Pier in Hong Kong to produce different types of furniture – dining and coffee tables, long and short benches, stools, and “ocean cubes.” Hong Kong is a highly urbanized city with a heavy focus on economic development; here, things are easily considered as "waste." We hope to use innovative design to preserve the city’s collective memory, and to show how “waste” can be transformed into something beautiful and useful.
