This pencil, which never needs to be sharpened, was designed for children in Grades 1–6. The tip of the pencil is made of alloy metal, which leaves pencil-like residue on paper. It can be used for more than 10 years. The main body is made from Tagua, a type of palm seed, which gives it a natural yet robust feel. The three incisions in the grip help children to develop a correct grip. The aim of this design was to produce a durable and practical product that also helps to raise environmental awareness. Tagua is often referred to as 'vegetable ivory' because of its similarity to elephant ivory. In this was, the product also helps to teach children about the need to choose sustainable options.
