The Next Package Design Project is about creating packaging design that is applicable to diverse categories of home appliances. Packaging is a user’s first physical touchpoint with a product. Thus, Samsung focused on a design that conveys the values of the brand and product, while stimulating users’ curiosity about the product during unboxing. While the front and back offer a stylish expression of the product, improvements were made in printing techniques (foil stamping), paper quality, and type of coating to stimulate the user’s tactile senses when unboxing. Such details convey the design philosophy that products are created with users in mind.
