Rather than choose a material with which to construct it, designer Sahil Singh allowed the Aero chair’s steel material and its unique flexibility to dictate the form! Composed entirely of steel, this modern seating solution is flexible along one axis and rigid along the other. To achieve this, the chair consists of three strips of metal – the one in the middle uses “ribs” to arrest any movement but the ones on the side use a compound bend to control what part of the chair will flex and how much. It also makes the backrest more elastic and less likely to break. In a sense, the chair is a perfect balance of form and function and works because of the way it looks, or looks because of the way it works! Designer: Sahil Singh
