A Fresh Take on the Food Steamer

1/6

Most of us know that steaming food is a healthier, safer alternative to other cooking methods… it’s just… well… it’s annoying and who has the counter space for a full fledged steaming device?! Designed with these points in mind, the Stoom steamer makes this effective cooking method a cinch. Inspired by the shape of a thermal pebble, Stoom’s ergonomic, friendly form is as easy on the eyes as it is to handle. Crafted from ceramic and tempered glass, the design can be used in the microwave, oven, or even on the stove. Heat is captured by the stones and steam is naturally circulated around the elevated food items. Easy to use and even easier to clean, you can throw it in the washer when you’re finished and tuck it neatly away when it’s not in use. Designer: Gaetan Kerckhove “While being cooked the heat is captured by the stones and gradually emit this heat and keeping the steamed vegetables warm long after serving. The soft wave like textures in the glass and ceramic parts are an ode to the Japanese tradition of purity, like sculpted white sand trails in a garden. Not only being aesthetic these waves in the glass surface create more surface to create more condense. As for the grill like texture keeps the vegetables suspended so hot air and steam can freely move around them,” Kerchkove explained to YD.
