This is a public housing project in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture designed for group relocation as part of disaster response measures. Each of the 44 units is laid out in a 4 square pattern. The bathroom and kitchen in one corner and the remaining 3/4 of the floor area is living space. Shared terraces connect to a barrier-free pedestrian space called the “Green Road”. The Green Road creates a network for pedestrians to use. This creates an environment which fosters communication among neighbors. Seniors and children live together, keeping an eye on each other as part of the community.
