A comprehensive redevelopment project which has provided for a new Himeji station front plaza with a strong view corridor focusing the Himeji castle (world heritage landmark). This is a rare project in Japan, which challenged to create a station front plaza not just for transportation rotary but for the pedestrian people, providing the very first experiment of “Transit Mall” (which limited the traffic to bus and taxi)”, a three dimensional plaza of “Sunken Garden”, “Lawn Plaza”, “Observation Deck”, and “Pedestrian Bridge” which connects the observation deck to other buildings.
