The Maxi Guard child restraint is a child car seat for children from approximately 6 months until approximately 8 years of age who are restrained by the in-built harness. This is a significant step forward from the booster seats that use just the seat belt to restrain the child and will reduce deaths in Australia experienced by children incorrectly using the seatbelt on booster seats. Previously child restraints could not have an in-built harness for children over approximately 4 years of age. With the release of the revised Standard for child restraints AS/NZS 1754:2013 a new category was added to allow child restraints to be used with in-built harnesses for an extended period.
