Mount Davis Youth Hostel – Living with Our Military History Sitting at the middle of battery and barrack ruins built in 1911, our design encapsulates the essence of Mount Davis, magnifies them and blends into the hostel facilities. All the new elements capture the form of explosion: a symbol of energy, movement and re-creation. This sense of dynamics matches perfectly the need to create a place for youngsters. Through this project, we redefine the function of youth hostel beyond providing accommodation; it also opens up a new opportunity to combine hostel services and cultural tourism for travelers to explore the history of Hong Kong Island West.
