Nidus is a concept bed for children treated at hospitals. The purpuse of this product is to bring humanitarian policies to pediatric wards in Brazil´s public hospitals, making such experience less traumatic for children. Inside hospitals, where the ward space is shared with other patients, kids are limited to bed borders, their personal space, almost like their “bedroom”. The project incorporates a series of communication elements aimed at aiding the contact between child and nurse, making the bed can be customizable for the patient, using glueless pvc stickers at the bed sideguards. The bed was also designed to ease nursery professionals routines, pronned to develop several health issues related to their duties. Telescopic arms allow for the beds ballasts for height adjustment, without risks of limb crushing accidents for patients. The extent of the bed can be adapted to higher stature patients, or adjusted for pre-adolescence growth, without needing to exchange the bed for a new one with suitable size. The bed sizes can be adjusted in height, from 153cm to 111cm in accordance with the height of the ballast, and from 201cm to 226cm in depth, according to the extension of the ballast.
